How to brew: Matcha

A perfectly brewed bowl of matcha sings with reverence and memories of ancient Japan.

It’s super easy to bring this historic emerald drop into your brewing repertoire, and we’re here to show you how.

You’ll need

  • Matcha
  • 150mls 80°C water

Brewing guide

  • 1/2 tsp per cup
  • 80°C / 176°F
  • 2-3mins

How to – Matcha Straight Up

  1. Heat your matcha bowl by adding a little hot water, gently swirling around, then discarding.
  2. Add a heaped bamboo matcha scoop of T2 Matcha (½ a teaspoon) and 150 ml 80°C water to the bowl.
  3. Whisk in an M shape, carefully breaking up any lumps, until the mixture starts to froth.
  4. Cup the bowl in your hands and sip.

You’ll need

  • Matcha Selfies
  • 200 ml 80°C/176°F water
  • Dash of soy milk, optional

How to – Matcha Flask

  1. Add 1 Matcha Selfie and 200 ml 80C/176F water to your Matcha Flask
  2. Vent for 1 minute, then screw lid on and shake
  3. Count to 10, then open and enjoy
  4. Fancy a matcha latte? Add a dash of soy milk after the first few shakes, replace the lid and shake again before drinking

How to – Matcha Straight Up

To make a refreshing summer thirst quencher, make your matcha as above, fill a heatproof glass with ice and lemon disks, add matcha mixture and top up with soda water.

Matcha latte

Looking for a richer, creamier and more luxe way to enjoy this green goddess? Simply brew as above, sweeten with a little honey, and add a dash of cold milk of choice.

Cook with matcha

Get a little matcha crazy and add this green powerhouse to your next smoothie or sweet treat. We love half a teaspoon mixed into some vanilla icing and smeared on top of a fresh-out-the-oven treat.
