Few capture that spirit quite like British illustrator Jay Cover, whose artwork for T2's English Breakfast is full of the humour, personality and wonderfully eccentric details that make London unlike anywhere else.

Known for his expressive hand-drawn illustrations and colourful cast of characters, Jay moved to London to be part of everything exciting, learning the city from the top deck of the bus and finding his community at the London Centre for Book Arts - a print and publishing studio that loved one of his characters so much, they adopted it as their own motif. His work transforms familiar moments into joyful visual stories, and that London, buzzing and full of life, is the one he draws.

At the heart of Jay's illustration is one of London's most iconic symbols: the unmistakable red double-decker bus. As it winds through the city, it carries lively conversations, quirky characters and unexpected encounters that celebrate Britain's enduring love of tea. Every stop reveals another glimpse of London life, capturing the humour, warmth and charm that make the city so memorable.

Jay now lives at a slower pace in Hastings, where The Crown has become his local, "it's the kind of place you always know there's someone going to be there that you know," he says. That shift shaped the design as much as London did. "I tried to embed as much experience and feeling about a place," Jay explains. "I guess these days I'm more interested in slowing down. I like this idea of people spending a moment together, and that's really what I wanted to try and capture."

Paired with English Breakfast Tea, the artwork celebrates the rituals that bring people together, from morning cups shared at the kitchen table to conversations that continue long after the kettle has boiled.
