A green tea that tastes remarkably like a Ferrero Rocher? That might sound a little steep, but this sweet, desserty delight is ready to take your tastebuds to lofty heights.

Originally created as a limited edition tea back in 2015, Jade Mountain sold out in two weeks – breaking a T2 record. The intense praline flavours combined with the moreish nuttiness of roasted rice made it an instant winner for everyone lucky enough to grab a box. Naturally we brought it back to our stores with lightning speed, and Jade Mountain has stayed in our top 10 ever since.

While we have plenty of dessert-inspired black teas and fruit tisanes, we needed a green tea that could stack up to even the most discerning of sweet tooths, while still being guilt-free. We craved something nutty, plush with praline flavours and laced with a hint of chocolate.

Our sommelier says

“Jade Mountain is deliciously surprising and robust for a green tea.”

To achieve a super nutty profile, we relied on gen mai cha as the base. This Japanese invention is a mix of green tea with roasted and popped rice. It adds a delightfully roasty, toasty flavour, as well as plenty of body. Next we scattered in some almonds and hazelnut praline, followed by some chocolate notes.

Finally, to ensure this brew was rich and oozed satisfaction, we added roasted chicory and carob. Each gives the tea oomph and body – so much so that this is the only green tea we add a splash of milk to (when we’re feeling extra fancy).

Don’t take our word for it

Great old time fave. My fave flavour at T2. Great alternative to dessert if you’re on a diet.

Perfect Chocolately Blend

This is the nicest green tea I have ever tasted. A decadent chocolate favour without the calories! We have almost finished the whole in, have a pot for the family every night.

Cocoa without milk! Who knew?!

This wasn’t at all what I thought it was going to be with the name Jade Mountain, but i love it! Having cocoa in a drink without milk is odd but I weirdly like it, then you have the subtle notes of hazelnut and the freshness of the green tea that carves through. Not a day to day drink but on occasion, with a nice book. Lovely.
