Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disgusting Black Pepper Tea The first time I made this tea I almost spat the first sip right back out. I can’t taste anything over the black pepper. Chai? Carmel? Pineapple? NOPE! Just a cup of hot black pepper. I really wanted to just taste the tea I was promised in the description, so I got out a small mesh tea ball and used it to sift a single serving of the tea. The amount of black pepper that came out was ridiculous (and I sneezed about 10 times while doing this). The pepper that came out of 1 tsp of this tea entirely coated a tea saucer. I brewed the newly sifted tea and found the flavor much more palatable, and now I can actually taste what I’m supposed to: warm spices and a hint of fruitiness. Unfortunately, if I drink it too quickly, I still get a burning sensation in the back of my throat as I imagine there is still a fair bit of pepper clinging to the tea leaves. This would be a really lovely tea if it had more pineapple and far less or no black pepper. Maybe I happened to get a batch that had more pepper—I imagine it would settle to the bottom of any storage container it’s kept in, and maybe I just happens to get what was at the bottom. Either way, definitely not the quality I’ve come to expect from T2, and given that I’m paying a higher price for premium tea, I really expect the producers to do a better job of quality testing their products.
