Which teapot material is right for you?
Borosilicate glass is transparent, so you watch the brew develop in real time — the leaves unfurling, the colour deepening from pale to rich as the tea steeps. It handles heat well and most glass teapots in the range are dishwasher and microwave safe. The Trendglas Water Kettle goes a step further, designed for stove-top use so you can brew directly on the heat source.
Fine bone china is the traditional choice, and for good reason. It's lighter than it looks, holds heat with a certain elegance, and has a refined feel at the spout and handle that other materials don't quite match. The Toulouse range adds 24k gold detailing. Fine bone china teapots are hand wash only, and worth it.
Porcelain sits between bone china and stoneware — denser and more robust than bone china, with a smooth, weighty quality that suits bolder designs. The Moroccan Muse, Moditerranean, and Billy ranges all use porcelain.
Stoneware is the most grounded of the four. T2's stoneware teapots draw on Japanese craft tradition, handmade in Nagoya with techniques passed down through generations. The texture is tactile and considered — a different kind of pleasure to pour from.
Solo or sharing
Capacity matters as much as material. Smaller teapots at 500ml are sized for a personal brew, one or two cups, brewed precisely. Mid-range at 750ml to 900ml works for two people or a generous solo session. The larger 1L to 1.2L teapots are built for sharing — a full table, a slow afternoon, a pot that keeps going. Each product page lists the capacity and the number of cups it comfortably serves.
FAQs
Do T2 teapots come with an infuser?
Most T2 teapots include a stainless steel infuser for loose leaf brewing. The infuser sits inside the teapot, holds the leaves while they steep, and lifts out when the tea is ready. Check the individual product page to confirm whether an infuser is included.
What is the difference between borosilicate glass and fine bone china teapots?
Borosilicate glass lets you watch the brew develop as it steeps and is generally dishwasher and microwave safe. Fine bone china is lighter, more refined in feel, and holds heat elegantly, but requires hand washing. The right choice depends on whether you prioritise practicality or the feel of a more traditional teapot.
Can I use a T2 glass teapot on the stove?
The Trendglas Water Kettle is designed for stove-top use, however other teapots in the T2 range are not suitable for direct heat.
How do I clean a teapot?
For glass teapots, most are dishwasher safe. For fine bone china and porcelain, hand washing in warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the finish and any decorative details. To remove tea stains, fill the teapot with equal parts white vinegar and warm water, leave for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. For stubborn stains, a paste of baking soda and water applied with a soft brush works well.
What size teapot do I need?
T2 has teapots and sets specifically designed for one and for two. If you're brewing solo, the Tea for One sets pair a teapot and saucer in a single matched set. For sharing, the Tea for Two sets do the same for a pair. Standalone teapots range from 500ml for personal brewing up to 1.2L and above for a full table. Capacity is listed on each individual product page.
