Why choose loose leaf in New Zealand?

Loose leaf tea uses whole or large-cut leaves that have room to fully expand in water. The result is a fuller, more aromatic, more layered cup than you get from a bag — because the leaf's natural oils and flavour compounds are intact and have space to infuse properly.

It does require a little more: an infuser, a strainer, or a teapot. If you'd rather skip the equipment, the same blends are available in tea bags. If you're already set up and want to top up a T2 tin without buying new packaging, the refills range has you covered. For a deeper look at what sets loose leaf apart, T2's Our Product page goes into more detail.

Loose leaf and sustainability

T2's loose-leaf teas are wrapped in compostable, plant-based polybags — no plastic, no excess packaging. T2 is B Corp certified, and sustainability runs through sourcing and packaging decisions across the range. One note on composting: before putting the polybags in your home compost bin, it's worth checking with your local council's green waste pick-up service first, as acceptance of bioplastics varies across New Zealand.
