Taking tea seriously doesn't stop when you leave the house. T2’s travel flask range is built for the Auckland commute, the 9-to-5, and the Saturday tramp in the Tararuas. Brew directly in the removable infuser, seal the lid, and carry your tea wherever the day leads.
Choose your material based on your mission: vacuum-insulated stainless steel for serious temperature retention, or double-walled glass for those who want to see their tea's true colour. We’ve even included a dedicated matcha flask range for whisking and sipping on the move.
Stainless steel tea flasks: heat retention and insulation
T2's stainless steel flasks use double-wall vacuum insulation: two layers of food-grade steel with a vacuum sealed between them. Without air to conduct heat, the temperature of the liquid transfers to the outer wall extremely slowly. Hot tea stays at approximately 60°C for up to six hours.
If the flask is dropped or exposed to strong impact, the vacuum seal may be compromised. When this occurs, heat may escape more quickly and the outer wall may begin to feel warm.
The range comes in various colours and is built for daily use. It's the format that works for a New Zealand winter commute, a full day without a microwave, or anywhere that requires the tea to still be worth drinking three hours after you made it.
Caring for your stainless steel flask
Why hand washing matters
To protect the coating and internal seal, the flask should always be hand washed. Dishwashers use high heat and pressure for extended periods, which can weaken the exterior coating and eventually cause paint to chip.
A gentle hand wash with warm water and mild detergent is all that is needed.
Caring for the silicone components
Silicone seals can absorb odours if liquids are left inside the flask for long periods, particularly when used with milk-based drinks. To keep everything fresh:
- Wash the flask soon after use
- Avoid leaving liquids sitting inside overnight
- Clean the silicone with warm water and mild detergent
Double-wall glass flasks
The double-wall glass flask range uses borosilicate glass with the same vacuum insulation principle as the steel flasks, but in a transparent construction. You can see the colour and clarity of the tea as you go. The trade-off is durability: glass needs more care than steel and is better suited to home use, the office commute, or shorter outings rather than rugged outdoor use. The designs in this range are more decorative than the steel flasks, making them a strong gifting option.
Matcha flasks: for on-the-go preparation
T2's matcha flask range is designed specifically for preparing and carrying matcha away from home.
Matcha is traditionally whisked in a bowl using a bamboo chasen. It requires time, technique, and intention. The Matcha Flasks reimagine that ritual. The hidden stainless steel whisk agitates the powder as you shake, helping create a smooth, suspended blend with minimal clumping. The leakproof lid protects your bag.
Double-wall insulation maintains warmth and keeps matcha warm at approximately 60°C for up to six hours.
