History

‘We opened our first place in Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, right near Melbourne Uni, and the most excited customers were the uni students... they wanted to drink tea, but not the tea their nannas drank."

1997-1999

Towards the end of 1999, we launched our second store in Chadstone, Melbourne. It was an instant success, with curious souls keen to see what we’d brewed up. By Christmas that year both T2 stores sold out of stock, with customers still thirsty for more.

2002-2003

We hit our stride with our tea knowledge and expertise, and our unending desire to discover, create and share our tea knowledge made us the go-to for tea in Australia. With the launch of T2 wholesale, more and more T2 teas began popping up on some of the best menus around Australia.

2013-2015

T2 was acquired by Unilever in 2013, and we decided to take our unique take on tea to other parts of the world, seeking cultural hubs and quirky spots across the pond like Shoreditch, Soho and Brooklyn.

2017

We opened our beloved Singapore store, celebrating with the creation of Singapore Breakfast, a bespoke new tea with a tasty black and green tea combination with coconut and pandan – just like kaya toast in a cup.

2020-2023

We became proudly B-Corp certified in 2020, receiving our re-certification in 2023. T2 joined CVC Capital Partners in 2022, making us part of the Lipton Teas and Infusions family.

2025

We opened our brand-new flagship store in Melbourne Central, a considered space designed to be an experience for all the senses. Adorned with local art, it features a sensory bar to taste, smell and get a close look at our beautiful blends - for a retail experience that feels out of this world.

Partnering with Global-e in March of 2025, we now also ship to over 180 countries worldwide, with free shipping available.

Today

Seen us out and about? Our brews are also available for wholesale, steeped and sipped in cafes, premium hotels, boutique grocers, and corporate offices. As

Sensory sipping

We create tea for the senses first. Our brews and blends are artfully crafted to take you on a journey of immersive aromas, and flavours that speak to where they came from. Close your eyes, take a sip, and be transported to a balmy morning in Singapore, a secret laneway cafe in Melbourne, or cosied up amidst the howling winds of Scotland.

We use whole tea leaves with minimal breakage, rather than low-grade dust or fannings. This retains essential oils and flavour compounds, creating complex flavour profiles with a multitude of notes that change subtly as you sip.
