Sustainability at T2
A sip in the right direction
A sip in the right direction
We’ve made radical changes to the way we do business, and have the top certification in the world to prove it.
Certified since 2020, and re-certified in 2023, we’re proudly part of a global community of over 7,000 companies doing business that puts people and planet first. Reducing inequality, lowering levels of poverty, creating healthier environments, building stronger communities, and imbuing jobs with dignity and purpose. We’ll sip to that!
From fruits to spices, tea leaves to herb bushes, 100% of our tea is sustainably sourced and harvested with love and reverence for the art of tea. As camellia sinensis (tea plant) is a natural crop dependent on origin and season, meaning tea such as our Assam, Darjeeling or other rare and special blends are sourced from the same region every year. Others are sourced from different regions, hand selected for the finest quality.

To ensure the ethicality of our teaware, we regularly monitor the working conditions within our factories, conducting third-party audits from design to selection of source materials to the standards of SMETA or BSCI. We won’t continue working with suppliers who fail these audits.
In some cases, we work with boutique, or family-owned businesses in countries such as Portugal, Nepal, and Japan who abide by their own, separate standards.

Almost all of our packaging is recyclable, reusable or compostable and is marked with logos to support correct disposal.
Our tea has come packed in compostable teabags since 2021. Made from plant- based materials, both bag and string are made from Polylactic Acid (PLA), with a paper tag printed with vegetable ink. Heat sealed, they’re also glue and staple free.
Polylactic Acid is a biodegradable bioplastic made from plant sources – in our case, we've used corn starch.
Shopping in-store? Our uncoated shopping bags can be recycled (when you’re done reusing them). Please note, there is a small charge for carry bags.
Our loose-leaf tea is wrapped in compostable plant-based polybags, which are compostable. We recommend checking with your local government’s green waste pick up service before placing bioplastics in your home compost bins.
Aside from our stickers, our gift wrap is entirely recyclable.
"We are thrilled to have T2 on board as a certified B Corporation. Since it first began as a shop-front in Fitzroy T2 has grown to become a major brand in the tea industry. From the beginning T2 has had a focus on purpose, people and planet. Their passion for the hard work of managing impact throughout their supply chain has been a key driver for their certification, with so much work behind the scenes going into making T2 a significant leader in sustainable sourcing."
