Our reigning queen of tea, the brew we (and millions of tea lovers) reach for whenever a tea craving calls. Sipped alongside fancy high tea, on the way to work or curled up on the couch, French Earl Grey delivers a symphony of floral, fruity flavours with a whisper of citrussy bergamot.
A staple from the start, French Earl Grey’s been on our shelves since we first opened our doors in 1995. Since then, it hasn’t budged from our top sellers list, proving time and time again that it’s the ultimate classic, a time-honoured favourite.
Like Earl Grey, French Earl Grey is a universal blend, so we can’t take all the credit, but we will brush our shoulders and tell you what makes ours stand out above the rest. While many can be a bit of a floral overload, and send the senses into pot pourri territory, our French Earl Grey is a clean, fresh and balanced mix of Provence-style flowers with tropical and stone fruits.

Breathe in the aroma of the dry leaf, and you’ll enjoy a constellation of fruity flavours that dance between the tropical notes of mango and papaya, and juicy ripe stone fruits including peach, apricot and plum.
Once brewed, the florals introduce themselves, serenading the senses with prominent rose, cheery sunflower and a streak of zingy hibiscus. Bergamot makes itself known but serves more as an enhancer to uplift the other flavours, rather than take centre stage – often becoming a favourite of traditionally non-bergamot drinkers.
Despite sounding like there’s a lot going on, this medium-bodied black is a lot like the French – uncomplicated, effortlessly chic and frustratingly sophisticated. It hits the sweet spot of being a little extraordinary, yet easy to drink every day. Like the goldilocks of tea, it’s not too floral, not too fruity, but just right.

How to brew French Earl Grey
- 1 tsp per cup
- 2-3 mins
- 100℃ (212℉)
- 2+ tsp per cup
- 1-2 mins
- 100℃ (212℉)
Add 1 teaspoon of French Earl Grey to your infuser and place the infuser in your cup or mug. To make a pot, the general rule is 1 teaspoon per 250 ml/8.4 fl oz.
Fill the cup or pot with freshly boiled water. Avoid heating water in the microwave.
Infuse for 2-3 minutes, or to desired strength.
Remove the infuser. Sip and enjoy!
The fruits and florals mean we usually don’t recommend adding milk. For a fun twist, try a squeeze of lemon or honey.
Add 2+ teaspoons of French Earl Grey per 250 ml/8.4 fl oz water to your infuser and place the infuser in your cup or jug.
Half fill your cup or jug with freshly boiled water. This ensures there’s plenty of room to add ice later.
Infuse for 1-2 minutes, or to desired strength.
Remove the infuser and leave to cool.
Add ice and fresh fruit to garnish.
