How to use the T2 Jug-A-Lot

In this edition of ‘How to T2’, we’re taking you through all the the tricks and tips to get the most out of your T2 Jug-A-Lot.

We also have guides to brewing with the Teamaker, Double Walled Glass Flask and Matcha Flask if you’re curious.

The T2 Jug-A-Lot was designed for our customers who aspire to make iced tea at home with maximum flavour, but were looking for an option that required as little fuss as possible. Two main features mean it ticks those boxes. Firstly, the large, removeable infuser provides room for enough loose leaf to brew a bulk batch, while allowing enough space for it to float and move around, to steeps the fullest flavour from each and every leaf. The fine mesh infuser also ensures a smooth, leaf-free iced tea.

The second feature is the BPA-free Tritan™ jug. The shape is designed to fit seamlessly into your fridge door – this means once you brew a batch it can easily be stored and be sipped throughout the day. Also, the lid screws tight onto the jug making it drip proof for laying on its side in the fridge if standing room isn’t available. It is also durable for day-to-day use, and doesn’t hold scents and flavours like some plastics to – so your tea will always taste fresh.

Read on for our full guide to using your T2 Jug-A-Lot, you can follow along with the video tutorial too.

The Jug-A-Lot method, with expert tips

  • 1

Remove the lid and infuser from the jug, and fill the jug half way with water at the correct temperature.

Check the tea packaging to find the correct temperature, but as a general rule: black tea, herbal and fruit tisanes are brewed in 100°C water; green and white tea is brewed in 80°C water.

The BPA-free Tritan™ jug is designed to handle heat such as boiling water.

  • 2

Add 2+ teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 250 ml of water to the infuser, and screw the infuser into the lid.

That’s 10 teaspoons for a 1.2L Jug-A-Lot or 16 teaspoons for a 2.0L Jug-A-Lot. Any type of T2 tea tastes great iced, you can even experiment with mixing flavours.

  • 3

Then, carefully lower the infuser into the water, and screw the infuser into the jug.

Make sure not to screw the infuser on tight, leave a 1cm gap for the steam to vent.

  • 4

Let your tea brew for the recommended brew time, set a timer to get this just right.

For fruit tisanes, you can brew them longer for an even stronger brew. But black tea, green tea and oolong can become bitter if it is brewed longer than the recommended duration.

  • 5

When the timer goes off, unscrew the lid and carefully remove the infuser. Leave the brewed tea to cool on the bench for an hour.

  • 6

Once cooled, add ice. Screw the lid on, leaving it open just enough to pour into glasses.

  • 7

If serving shortly after brewing, add fruit and garnishes into the Jug-A-Lot. But if you will be storing it in the fridge, garnish after pouring it into your individual glass to extend the life of the iced tea.

Try fresh herbs, and exciting fruits to dress up your iced tea.

How to wash your Jug-A-Lot

  • Once you have brewed your tea – discard the loose leaf leaves by tapping the infuser upside down into the bin or garbage disposal, then rinse thoroughly with water to prevent staining. Then, hand wash or soak with mild soap.
  • The Jug is dishwasher safe but hand washing with a gentle soap can extend the product newness and longevity.
