Few drinks can rival an iced tea's timeless appeal and quenching satisfaction. This beloved beverage has graced many tables, offering a symphony of fruity flavours to choose from and a welcome cold drink, particularly for relentless summer days.
The history of iced tea
The history of iced tea dates back to the early 19th century when inventive minds seeking a cooler alternative to hot tea stumbled upon the art of chilling the brew. While its exact origins are a mystery, it's widely believed that Richard Blechynden, an English merchant, first introduced iced tea at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. This innovative creation rapidly gained popularity, transcending continents and cultures to become the global sensation we know and love today.

How do I make iced tea?
Make ice tea by boiling your kettle or teapot, adding teabags or loose-leaf tea, removing the tea and adding sweetener if desired. Stir until dissolved and cool the tea in the refrigerator. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled tea over ice, garnishing with sliced fruits, herbs or citrus wedges if desired.
Is iced tea sweet?
Iced tea can be either sweet or unsweetened, depending on how it's prepared and served. Sweetened iced tea is made by adding sugar or a sweetener while it's still warm, allowing it to dissolve. On the other hand, unsweetened iced tea is prepared without added sugar or sweeteners.
At T2, we have various ice teas, including sweet flavours like our Strawberries and Cream or our classic Just Peppermint for a more savoury blend.
