Welcome to ‘How to T2’, in this series we tell you all the tricks and tips to get the most out of your T2 brew tools.

First up, is the T2 Tea Flask. Designed to keep your drinks hot (or iced) for longer. It’s made for those who want to take their tea on their travels or simply like to sip slowly without it going cold. If this is you, read on and learn all you can about your soon-to-be favourite brew tool.

Stainless steel or glass the flask? The difference explained

The method of use is similar for both types of flasks – your tea will be ready in just 6 simple steps!

Both do a great job of brewing and transporting your tea too. The stainless-steel flask is more appropriate for hikes, camping and on-the-go adventures – with heat-retaining features for up to 6 hours, and 12 hours for cool tea. The glass is loved by many for its sweet design, that allows you see all the gorgeous colours of your tea. It’s important to note that like the name suggests – the glass flask, is in fact made of glass, so needs to be handled with care.

Is matcha more your taste? We have a smaller flask with a built-in whisk, which would be perfect for you.

A guide to use Tea Flask, with expert tips

  • 1

Remove the lid and unscrew the infuser from the insert.

  • 2

Add 1 heaped teaspoon of tea to the infuser and re-attach the infuser to the insert.

If you like your tea strong in taste, add 2 teaspoons. If you only have tea bags, simply use 1 or 2, depending on your desired flavour intensity.

  • 3

Fill flask with water at the correct temperature until 2cm from the top.

Refer to tea packaging to find the correct temperature, but as a general rule: black tea, herbal and fruit tisanes are brewed in 100°C water; green and white tea is brewed in 80°C water.

If you are planning adding milk or ice to your tea, fill until 3cm from the top. This will leave enough room, while ensuring all your tea leaves are infused beneath the water.

  • 4

Slowly lower the infuser into the water.

Don’t rush! Take it slow to will avoid any splashing or overflowing of hot water.

  • 5

Infuse for the tea’s recommended time then carefully remove the infuser.

Keep the lid removed while the tea is infusing to allow steam to escape. This cools the water slightly, to reach a more appropriate temperature for drinking.

If you want to drink it immediately, we recommend brewing at a cooler temperature, adding milk or a splash of cool water – just like you would when making a cup of tea. Is your narrow cup not activating the ‘Tea Flow’ and ‘Shut Off’ system? Then hover the Teamaker over you cup and carefully press the base (keeping your fingers away from the pourer in the centre) to release your tea into your cup.

  • 6

Top with milk and honey to your taste. For iced tea – allow your tea to cool and then add ice cubes.

To serve, sip straight from the flask or pour into your favourite mug.

When transporting your flask, ensure the lid is screwed on tight.

More about the T2 Tea Flask

  • Wash it in warm and soapy water. The flask is not suitable for a microwave or dishwasher. Dishwashers use extreme temperatures and pressure for extended periods of time, which cause the paint to loosen its hold on the stainless steel before eventually causing the paint to chip away.
  • Handle your flask with care to keep it looking it’s best. Our flasks are individually hand sprayed with a special scratch resistant coating. Although it is scratch resistant, it is not scratch proof, therefore if the flask is dropped on a hard surface, scraped against keys in a bag or rubbed against any other metal products, it may scratch as will any stainless-steel item with a coloured coating.
  • Thermal qualities can keep your tea at 60°C for up to six hours, but how does it keep tea warm for so long? It’s not magic, our stainless-steel flask is vacuum-sealed. This is done by using a small piece of borosilicate glass to seal a 1mm hole in the outer wall of the flask, and that is what keeps the flask vacuum sealed and insulated. Please note, if the flask is dropped onto a very hard surface or has been exposed to some kind of strong force, this tiny piece of glass may loosen, causing the vacuum seal to break. This means the heat will then escape and the outer wall may begin to feel hot to the touch.
