Green Rose

Explore the tropical green that’ll turn almost anyone into a green tea fanatic.

With its sunny, just-back-from-Bali demeanour, Green Rose is a celebration of the flavours of the tropics.

A much-loved member of the T2 family since the very beginning, Green Rose is one of our staples when it comes to green tea. And with all its incredible fruity flavours, plus those pretty rose petals, well, there’s a lot to love.

With a classic sencha green tea base, we then layer in loads of ripe flavours like mango, papaya and currants. The mango adds juiciness, while the papaya delivers a touch of zing. The currants keep it all nice and sweet, without any added sugar. A sprinkle of rose and blue cornflower petals, and you might just be looking at the most alluring and addictive green in our repertoire.

With all those lush flavours, Green Rose has become our go-to suggestion for anyone who wants to explore green tea, but isn’t sold on the more savoury, ‘bitter’ flavour profile. Filled with soft, easy-to-love fruits and florals, with a light green tea flavour in the background, Green Rose offers a gentle introduction.

With any green tea, the trick to avoiding the dreaded bitterness lies in how you brew it. Most make the mistake of using the same approach to black tea and pour boiling hot water directly on the leaves. Green tea hasn’t been as processed as black teas, so the leaves are much more susceptible to being scalded, and that’s what delivers a bitter, unsatisfying result. Instead, we’re going to go for something more around the 80°C (176°F) mark. But don’t worry, you don’t need a degree in calculus to work that out. Simply fill your cup with boiling water, add a splash of cold, then add your tea leaves. This will mean less bitterness but will also let all those fine fruity flavours shine bright.
